KEY PROTECTION EQUIP

Active Countermeasure Equipment Against Optical Imag- ing-Guided Weapons for Important Targets (AAPVS-1 Type I)

Purpose and Functions

Primarily used for terminal protection of important targets against optical imaging precision-guided weapon strikes, the equipment can autonomously track incoming missiles and conduct laser counter- measures with the support of external cueing information, helping prevent precision hits and damage to protected assets. It provides effective protection means for important targets against precision-guided attacks, significantly enhancing survivability during air strikes.

Applicable Scenarios

Suitable for protecting groundbased fixed targets with large footprints and relatively limited self-pro- tection capabilities, such as government buildings, radio and television buildings, power plants, water plants, and transportation hubs. It can effectively counter typical air-strike weapons and munitions, including Hsiung Feng IIE (HF-2E) and the BGM-109 Tomahawk cruise missile. With external cueing information, it can operate autonomously under external cueing; without external cueing informa- tion, it generally requires optional detection and warning equipment for external cueing.

Deployment and Operation

The equipment can be deployed at the highest point of the protected asset. Installation is completed once on-site power supply, communications, and control connections are in place. Prior to engage- ment, power on and start the equipment via the command-and-control center or a local control terminal; with the support of external cueing information, it will then carry out protection tasks fully automatically.
