STEEL GRATING

Steel Grating

Basic Definition

Steel gratings are metal panels with square grids, which are vertically assembled by bearing flat bars and transverse twisted square bars (or flat cross bars) at specific intervals and fixed together by pressure resistance welding. They can be processed into custom sizes through cutting, holing and trimming, and laid and fastened with fixing clips and bolts. Featuring high strength, anti-slip property, water drainage and light transmission, they are widely used as substitutes for checkered steel plates and solid steel plates in platforms, trench covers, walkways, stair treads and other applications.

Core Components

Bearing Bar: The primary load-bearing material that determines the overall load capacity, available in plain and serrated anti-slip types.Cross Bar (Twisted Square Bar / Flat Cross Bar): Welded perpendicularly between bearing bars to form uniform grids, fix spacing and distribute loads.Edge Banding Bar: Flat steel for edge sealing around the whole panel, which improves overall rigidity and prevents sharp edges and deformation.Supporting Fittings: Stainless steel fixing clips, fastening bolts, anti-slip serrated strips, rubber shock-absorbing pads.

Supplementary Classification

Classified by surface anti-corrosion treatment

Hot-dip Galvanized Steel Grating: Preferred for outdoor, factory, municipal and coastal projects with long anti-corrosion service life.

Painted / Black Varnished Steel Grating: Applied to dry indoor environments with low corrosion and low cost.

304 / 316 Stainless Steel Grating: Suitable for high-corrosion scenarios such as chemical plants, seawater environments and food processing workshops.

Main SpecificationsCommon thickness of bearing bars: 3mm / 5mm / 6mmStandard pitch: 30×100mm, 40×100mm (general specifications for industrial platforms)

Core Advantages

Light self-weight and high load capacity, greatly reducing structural load compared with solid steel plates.

Hollow grid structure realizes water drainage, ventilation and light transmission without water accumulation, and resists dust and snow accumulation.

Hard to accumulate flammable and explosive dust with good ventilation and heat dissipation, applicable for explosion-proof factories.

Hot-dip galvanized anti-corrosion layer effectively avoids rust for long-term outdoor service with low maintenance cost.
